New weather forecast Skoða sem PDF skjal Prentvæn útgáfa Senda í tölvupóst

We now have a new weather forecast for the race day on Saturday. Unfortunately the forecast is not as positive as it was on Tuesday with more expected wind speed.

The forecast from Vedurvaktin says: “Wind from NE, fresh over the mountain of Hrafntinnusker and also near Emstrur. For wind of such a fresh breeze, there will be likely some drifting sand or ash in places. Sunny more or less all the way and it is not forecasted any type of precipitation.” Click here to see the weather forecast on a map.

The positive thing about the forecast is that the wind is mostly blowing in the back of the runners. The negative thing is that there is a possibility for some drifting sand or ash in places that can cause discomfort. We therefore recommend that runners will prepare to be able to cover their nose and mouth on part of the way. Do to the weather conditions it is also recommended that runners carry both energy gels and enough fluid with them. It would for example be a good idea to have some fluid in the midpoint bag.
