Program on race day

The program on race day June 23rd 2016 is following

16:00 Registration and number pickup - closes 45 min before each race
21:20 Half marathon start on Engjavegur by the the Reykjavik Zoo & Family Park
21:50 5 k start on Engjavegur by Engjavegur 6
22:00 10 k start on Engjavegur by Engjavegur 6
00:20 End of race timing

The prize ceremony will be at the finishing area as soon as results are ready. All distances finish on a path by the old laundry springs in Laugardalur called "þvottalaugavegur". Click here for a map of the start/finish area and here for the race map.

All participants are invited free of charge to Laugardalslaug geothermal pool after the race. Click here for further information.

How to get there?

The Laugardalur valley where the race starts and ends is not very far from the city center and there are several options to get there.

By car

If you have a car please note that the parking lot by the ice skating rink in Laugardalur will be closed from 18:00. Also note that the road Engjavegur will be closed some parts of the evening. It is recommended that runners park by Laugardalsvöllur National Football Stadium. 


The follwoing busses stop at Suðurlandsbraut, the street behind Laugardalshöll Sports Hall (number pickup and start area):

Number 2 – Hlemmur – Hamraborg- Salahverfi
Number 5- Nauthólsvík-Hlemmur-Ártún-Mosfellsbær
Number 15- Vesturbær – Hlemmur-Ártún- Mosfellsbær
Number 17-Seltjarnarnes-Vesturbær-Hlemmur-Bústaðahverfi-Mjódd

Bus number 14 stops by Laugardalslaug Swimmingpool
Bus number 12 stops at Laugarnesvegur

About Reykjavik Sports Union

The Reykjavik Sports Union was established in 1944 and is the association of sports clubs in Reykjavik. The Reykjavik Sports Union organizes six sports events every year: Íslandsbanki Reykjavík Marathon in August, Laugavegur Ultra Marathon in July, Suzuki Midnight Sun Run and Tour of Reykjavik in June, Northern Lights Run, powered by Orkusalan in February and Reykjavik International Games in January.
