All runners registered for the Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon can run for charity. Collection of donations takes place on the web hlaupastyrkur.is.

Since 2007 participants in the Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon have been able to run for a good cause. Over 500 million ISK has been collected to almost two hundred charities since 2007. In the year 2016 just over 97 million ISK were collected via hlaupastyrkur.is for 164 charity organizations.

The 2017 Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon will take place on Saturday, August 19th, 2017. More than 3000 participants are now registered for the race, including 1000 Icelandic runners and 2000 from other countries.
Most of the registered participants are taking part in the half marathon, just over 1000 people, and around 900 people are registered for both the 10 km race and the marathon. The gender ratio is almost equal, 54% of the registered participants are female runners and 46% male runners.
On-line registration for the race will be open until 13:00 on Thursday, August 17th but participants are encouraged to register sooner than later since the entry fee gets higher closer to the race.
