    The 2018 Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon will place on Saturday, August 18th. Participants can choose between five different distances. On-line registration will open in January 2018 at marathon.is.

8700 registered

The 2016 Íslandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon takes place on Saturday August 20th. 8700 participants have already registered for the race, 14% more than at the same date last year. On-line registration takes place here and will be open until 13:00 on Thursday August 18th. It is also possible to register at the EXPO but then the entry fee is higher.

Most of the participants have registered for the 10 km race or 3800 and second most for the half marathon, 2500 runners. A new registration record has already been set in the marathon distance where 1583 runners are now registered. The old record was set last year when 1262 registered for the marathon.

More runners from abroad than ever before have registered for the race, 3710. Most of the international guests are from USA, UK and Canada.

About 2300 participants in the 2016 Íslandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon are going to run for charity and are collecting donations at hlaupastyrkur.is. Now the total amount collected is 19,2 million ISK, about 30% higher than at the same date last year. Runners can choose between several Icelandic charity organizations, many of them are part of international organizations. Click here to register as a charity runner.

Registration for the 2016 Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon, that will be held for the 33rd time on August 20th is in full swing here on marathon.isOn-line registration ends on Thursday August 18th at 13:00. 

The race consists of six different distances so people of all age groups and fitness levels should be able to find a suitable distance: marathon (42,2 km), half marathon (21,1 km), relay race (2-4 runners team up and run a marathon), 10 km race, 3 km Fun Run and a Kids Run.
