    The Reykjavik Marathon is an annual running event, established in 1984. The 2013 Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon takes place on Saturday August 24th. Registration for the race will open in January 2013.

    The Reykjavik Culture Night is an annual event, held in the city of Reykjavik since 1996. The Reykjavik Marathon and the Reykjavik Culture Night take place on the same day, Saturday August 24th
  • „The cleanest course I´ve ever run”

The 2011 Reykjavik Marathon took place last Saturday. The weather was amazing and absolutely perfect for running. There were a lot of photographers taking photos of the happy runners all around town.

Beautiful day

The 28th Reykjavik Marathon took place today. The weather was perfect for running, almost no wind and the sun was shining.

Veronika Sigridur Bjarnadottir and Arnar Petursson where the fastest marathon runners this year. Kári Steinn Karlsson and Rannveig Oddsdóttir, finished first in the half marathon and in the 10k Arndis Yr Hafthorsdottir and Thorbergur Ingi Jonsson where the winners. Kari Steinn set a new Icelandic record in the half marathon, he ran the 21k on 1:05:35. Click here for further results and here for personal results made by RunPix.

12.481 runners registered for the Reykjavik Marathon this year. That is a new participation record. 684 where registered for the marathon, 1852 for the half marathon, 4.431 for the 10k, 33 teams and 116 runners for the relay race, 1.970 for the 3k fun run and 3.428 children for the Lazy Town run. Around 1.400 international runners participated in the race which is also a new record.
