The 2011 Reykjavik Marathon takes place today. 12.213 runners are registered in all six distances but the number of participants might get higher when registration finishes later today.

After the race we recommend that runners visit one of Reykjavik´s fantastic geothermal baths and pools. A one free entry to one of the pools is included in the entry fee. Reykjavik Culture Night has become an essential part of cultural life in Iceland, with thousands of people strolling the streets of the city on this exciting and eventful night. The Culture Night takes place on the same day as Reykjavik Marathon. Click here to find further information about the Culture Night and it´s program.
Here on marathon.is your fans, friends and family can follow you “live” while you run. Click here for a link to the split times and preliminary results updated every minute on race day from 8:40-14:40. Official results will be published on the web no later than at 16:00 on race day. Some photos will be available on the web on Sunday afternoon and more will photos will be added the following days.

On-line registration ends today
On-line registration for the Reykjavik Marathon, that takes place on Saturday August 20th, ends today at 16:00. Click on the red "on-line registration" button to register for the race.
More than seven thousand people have already registered for the 2011 Reykjavik Marathon, including over 1.200 international runners. Most people have registered for the 10k, around 3.000 runners. The half marathon is also popular with more than 1.500 runners registered. Almost 700 runners are registered for the marathon distance.
Those who miss the on-line registration have possibility to register at the EXPO in Laugardalsholl (sports hall) on Friday August 19th. The opening hours are from 10:00 to 19:00. Click here for further information.
