On-line registration closes soon

Íslandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon 2013 will take place on Saturday August 24th. On-line registration is in full swing here at marathon.is but it will close at noon on Thursday August 22nd.

It is also possible to register at the EXPO in Laugardalshöll on Friday August 23rd between 10 and 19 but note that the entry fee is higher at the EXPO.

Run for charity

All runners registered for the Íslandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon can run for a good cause. Collection of donations takes place on the web hlaupastyrkur.is. This week an english version of the web was published to give international runners the possibility to take part.

Since 2007 participants in the Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon have been able to run for a good cause. Millions upon millions have been donated and over a hundred charities benefit from these donations. In the year 2012 a record of 45.987.154 ISK were collected via hlaupastyrkur.is for 130 charities.

1866 international runners registered

Registration for the 2013 Íslandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon that takes place on Saturday August 24th is in full swing. 7.456 runners have now registered for the race 42% more than 16 days before the race last year.

Most people have registered for the 10 k race, 3.702 runners, and second most for the half marathon, 1.926 runners. Registered marathon runners are 964 in total witch is a new registration record in the distance.

International registered runners are 1.866 from 58 different countries. This is also a new registration record. Most of the international runners come from USA, 427, and second most from the UK, 245. From Germany 184 runners are registered, 165 from Canada and 147 from Norway.

Last registration day is at the EXPO in Laugardalsholl Sports Hall on Friday August 23rd. Runners are though encouraged to register on-line to get a lower entry fee. On-line registration closes at 12:00 (noon) on Thursday August 22nd.

We recommend early registration

Registration for the 2013 Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon that takes place on August 24th is in full swing. Registration opened on January 9th and will be open until the day before the race.

It is recommended that runners register early, because the registration fee gets higher closer to the race. The lowest fee is available until May 3rd. Click here to find information about entry fee.

the web reykjavikruns.us receives awards

The Icelandic web awards were announced in Harpa on the 8th of February. The website reykjavikruns.us which addresses the Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon in a particularily fun way received two awards. It received awards in the category Best marketing campaign as well as in the category The most original website.

The bank Íslandsbanki has been a partner of the Reykjavik Marathon since 1997 and the web is made on the bank's initiative and developed and designed in collaboration with the company Takk Takk. The web aired in the spring of 2012 with the goal to introduce foreign runners to the Reykjavik Marathon and its surroundings in Reykjavik in a new and fun way. The web includes 21 steps and you can say that each step tells its own story. The plan is to add more steps as it comes closer to the 2013 Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon. 

Íslandsbanki's web says: "The committees review states among other things that the subject was approached from an interesting perspective and presented in a very original and entertaining way. The experience from browsing the website is an educational and fun trip that includes sincere storytelling and creative installations."

Welcome to the Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon new website!

Registration is now open for the thirtieth Reykjavik Marathon that will be held on August 24th 2013. Registration will be open until August 21st but it will also be possible to register at the EXPO on August 23rd. Notice that entry fees for the Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon get higher as it comes closer to the race. 

At this runners feast there are six distances. There is marathon, halfmarathon, 10 k race, relay race, 3 k Fun Run and the Lazy Town Run. We encourage you to check out all the information on the Reykjavik Marathon here on our website.

Registration starts tomorrow

Registration for all three events organised by the Reykjavik Marathon will start on marathon.is tomorrow, wednesday January 9th. The events are, additional to the Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon, the Suzuki Midnight Sun Run and the Laugavegur Ultra Marathon.

The thirtieth Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon will be held on the 24th of August. This will be, as in previous years, a true runners feast that has to offer 6 different distances. Everybody interested in participating should therefore be able to find a distance suitable for them. The 6 distances are marathon, half marathon, 10 k race, relay race, 3 k Fun Run and the Lazy Town Run.

You shouldn't miss out on this huge birthday party. You don't even have to bring a gift, only register!

When registration starts the "On-line" registration button on the right will be active. We will also let you know by posting a new story under news here on the web and with a post on facebook.
