SMS and facebook results

In celebration of the Reykjavik Marathon 30th anniversary two exciting technological innovations will be offered in this year’s run. The first innovation is the possibility to have the results sent by SMS and the second one is the publication of the finish time on facebook shortly after runners cross the finish line.

Shortly after runners cross the finish line on Saturday an SMS will be sent to their registered mobile number. The text message will contain the runners unconfirmed chip time. Confirmed results will be published on marathon.is no later than at 16:00 on the day of the race. Runners can check and change their registered mobile number on “Your Page”. Please notice that it is only possible to register one mobile number. It does not have to be the runners number, it can also be the number of a friend or a family member who waits excited on the sidelines. Runners with mobile numbers registered outside Iceland need to register their number as if they where calling the number from a different country, for an example 004545264526. Notice that “Your Page” will close at noon tomorrow, Thursday August 22nd, but it is also possible to register a mobile number at the race number pick up in Laugardalshöll sports hall.

Timing in the Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon is done with timing devices from MyLaps. It is possible to receive a message on your Facebook wall when chosen runners, who registered on-line, cross the finish line if you get the MyLaps app for Facebook. It is simple to get this app and with it you can track as many runners as you want, both yourself and others. Note that this only applies to runners who registered on-line. If a runners name shows up twice on the list it is safest to track both names. Relay teams should be searched by their team names not by runners name. Click here to get the MyLaps app for Facebook. Runners that do not want it to be possible to publish their results in the Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon on facebook with the MyLaps app can send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and their name will be removed from the list.

"Live" results

Like previous years family and friends, who cannot make it to the sidelines to encourage runners, can find live results and split times here at marathon.is. Note that these are only preliminary results that are updated every 10 seconds. Official results will be published on the web at 16.00 hours on the race day.
