Registration in full swing

Registration for the 2015 Íslandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon that will take place on Saturday August 22nd is now in full swing. Almost 5.000 runners are now registered for the race, 18% more than at the same date last year.

Runners are encouraged to register early to get a lower entry fee. The next entry fee increase will be at midnight on Wednesday July 1st.

Will you run for charity?

All runners registered for the Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon can run for charity. Collection of donations takes place on the web hlaupastyrkur.is.

Since 2007 participants in the Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon have been able to run for a good cause. Around 400 million ISK have been collected to over hundred charities since 2007. In the year 2014 a record of 85.634.595 ISK were collected via hlaupastyrkur.is for 163 charity organizations.

Runners can choose between several Icelandic charity organizations. Note that many of the Icelandic charties are part of international charity organizations. Click here to view the list of over 100 charities to choose from.

Around 800 participants have started collecting donations at hlaupastyrkur.is. Click here if you want to run for charity and register at hlaupastyrkur.is.

33% increase in registrations

Registration for the Reykjavik Marathon, that will this year be on the 22nd of August, goes beyond expectations. Already, about 2.800 people have signed up for the race, which is 33% more than at the same time last year.

By now 1.017 people have registered in the 10 km race. There are 850 registered in the half marathon and 670 in the full marathon. Registered foreign participants are now 1.245 from 50 countries.

Get the lowest entry fee

Now is the right time to register for the 2015 Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon if you want to get the lowest entry fee. The entry fee will rise on Monday March 16th so we encourage you to register before that. Click here for further information about the entry fee.

The 2015 Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon takes place on Saturday August 22nd. Like previous years participants can choose between six distances:

Marathon (42,2 km)
Half marathon (21,1 km)
Relay race (2-4 persons in a team run total 42,2 km)
10 km race
3 km fun run
LazyTown Run (for children 8 years and younger)

Registration is open

Registration for the 2015 Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon that will be held for the 32st time on August 22nd has now opened here on marathon.is.

Like for the last years the race consists of six different distances so people of all age groups and fitness levels should be able to find a suitable distance.

Relay race (2-4 runners team up and run a marathon)

LazyTown Run

Runners are encouraged to register early because the entry fee will increase as it comes closer to the race. The last change to register at the lowest price is March 15th.

All registered participants can register for the team competition at "your page". This option will open when it comes closer to the race. We will let participants know when it opens via e-mail and on web.

Registration starts in January

The 32nd Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon will take place on Saturday August 22nd. Participants can choose between six distances:

  • Marathon (42,2 km)
  • Half marathon (21,1 km)
  • Relay race (2-4 runners in a team)
  • 10 km race
  • 3 km fun run
  • Lazy Town Run (for children 9 years and younger)

Registration will start on January 9th and will be open until August 20th at 13:00. Information about registration fee and other practical things will be available here at marathon.is in the beginning of January.

Thank you for a fantastic day

The 31st Reykjavik Marathon was held today and there have never been as many registered participants. The total amount of registered participants was 15.552 and following is the number of participants per distance.
