Registration starts in January

The 33rd Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon will take place on Saturday August 20th 2016. Participants can choose between six distances:

Marathon (42,2 km)
Half marathon (21,1 km)
Relay race (2-4 runners in a team)
10 km race
3 km fun run
Kids Run (for children 9 years and younger)

Registration will start on January 8th and will be open until August 18th at 13:00. Information about registration fee and other practical things will be available here at marathon.is in the end of December.

This years Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon in now officially over. We had great running weather in Reykjavik today and the participants where happy with the conditions. 

The run was held for the 32nd time today and there where around 15 thousand participants registered.

The charity collection website hlaupastyrkur.is is still up and running and will be open until Monday the 24th of August at midnight. Participants have now collected 76 million ISK for 173 different charities. 

The Reykjavik Marathon office wants to thank the participants, staff, sponsors and the audience for this amazing day we have had.

Today around 15 thousand people will take part in the 2015 Íslandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon.

The race information center on race day is MR the white school building by the start and finish area. Information center opens at 7:00.

Pace makers

In the 2015 Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon runners are offered help to reach their goals in the 10 km run, halfmarathon and marathon. Pace makers will run these distances at an even speed. They will be wearing marked vests and carrying balloons so that runners can follow them. 

The pace makers are all trained runners that will run at the following times:

10 km race

45 minutes    Sigurður Ingi Viðarsson and Margrét Elíasdóttir
50 minutes Svanhildur Þengilsdóttir and Ingigerður Guðmundsdóttir

60 minutes Sif Jónsd., Sigríður Klara, Haraldur Halldór and Auður Ævarsd.

70 minutes Bergljót S. Einarsdóttir and Tryggvi Haraldsson

Number pickup Thursday and Friday

On-line registration for the 2015 Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon will end at 13:00 on Thursday August 20th.

Registered participants should pick up their race package with bib number, chip for timing, t-shirt etc. in Laugardalshöll Sports Hall, Engjavegur 8, Reykjavik. It will also be possible to register at the EXPO.

The EXPO is open on Thursday August 20th and Friday August 21st from 14-19. Clich here for further information.

Diverse distances

All age groups and levels should be able to find a distance to run or walk in the 2015 Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon. There are six different distances to choose from:

Marathon (42,2 km) - For 18 years and older
Half marathon (21,1 km) - For 15 years and older
10 km timed race - Not recommended for children under the age of 12
Relay race (42,2 km - 2-4 runners) - For 12 years and older
3 km fun run - All age groups
Lazy Town Run - Children 0-8 years

On-line registration here at marathon.is ends on Thursday August 20th at 13:00. Participants are encouraged to register on-line because the entry fee is higher if registered at the EXPO in Laugardalsholl Sports Hall.

Everybody can collect donations

All runners registered for the Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon can run for charity. Collection of donations takes place on the web hlaupastyrkur.is. Runners can choose between several Icelandic charity organizations. Note that many of the Icelandic charities are part of international charity organizations.
