The Icelandic web awards were announced in Harpa on the 8th of February. The website reykjavikruns.us which addresses the Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon in a particularily fun way received two awards. It received awards in the category Best marketing campaign as well as in the category The most original website.
The bank Íslandsbanki has been a partner of the Reykjavik Marathon since 1997 and the web is made on the bank's initiative and developed and designed in collaboration with the company Takk Takk. The web aired in the spring of 2012 with the goal to introduce foreign runners to the Reykjavik Marathon and its surroundings in Reykjavik in a new and fun way. The web includes 21 steps and you can say that each step tells its own story. The plan is to add more steps as it comes closer to the 2013 Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon.
Íslandsbanki's web says: "The committees review states among other things that the subject was approached from an interesting perspective and presented in a very original and entertaining way. The experience from browsing the website is an educational and fun trip that includes sincere storytelling and creative installations."
