The Kid's run, George's Wacky Outfit Race takes place in Hljómskálagarður garden on Saturday, August 19th, 2017.  George's Wacky Outfit Race is for children around 8 years old and younger but kids up to 10 years old are welcome to join the race. The Fun Run is probably more suitable for children over 8 years old. Parents can run with their children in George's Wacky Outfit Race but they are not registered. Entertainment for the kids will start at 13.00 in Hljómskálagarður garden and then participants will be able to start running the course between 15:00 and 15:30.

Event Schedule

The Event Schedule will start at 13:00 (1 pm) in Hljómaskálagarður and there will be plenty of things to do and see for all participants in George's Wacky Outfit day.

Amongst other things, there will be:

  • Entertainment by the theatre group Lotta
  • Bouncy castles
  • Archery
  • Face painting
  • Wall climbing
  • Bubble Ball
  • Foosball
  • Mini golf
  • And so much more

The Race

George's Wacky Outfit Race will first be started at 15:00 (3 pm) and continue to go until 15:30 from the street Skothúsvegur by Bjarkargata street. There will be a few start groups in this period and there for no need to arrive at 15:00 promptly.

The race is approximately 600 meters long, going through Skothúsvegur, Fríkirkjuvegur and then ending in Lækjargata where the medals will be awarded to all registered participants. For more information about the course press here!

Registration fee

The entry fee for the 2017 Kid's run called: George's Wacky Outfit Race is 1100-1400 ISK if registered online, 1600 ISK if registered at the EXPO. Information about entry fee can be found here.

Included in the registration fee is amongst other things a cap, sunglasses and a sticker tattoo that will be handed out along with the registration package at the EXPO in Laugardalshöll sports hall.

If a parent or a guardian plans on running with a child signed up for the race they do not need to sign up as well because only children can sign up for this race. 

A family discount is given if a parent/guardian runs in the Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon and two or more children. You will have to sign all of you up at the same time to get the discount. For further information click here.


Before the race, an EXPO will be held in Laugardalshöll Sports Hall. At the EXPO pre-registered participants can pick up their registration packages and those who have not signed up are welcome to do so. Click here for further information.
